Grammar Explanation
Pronouns are words that replace nouns to avoid repetition. Personal pronouns refer to specific people or things.
Subject pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) replace the subject of a sentence. Object pronouns (me, you, him, her, it, us, them) replace the object. Possessive pronouns (mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs) show ownership.
Examples
- •“I am a student. (subject)”
- •“She gave the book to me. (object)”
- •“This book is mine. (possessive)”
- •“They are going to the park.”
- •“He called her yesterday.”
Tips
- 💡"You" is the same for subject and object, singular and plural.
- 💡"It" is used for things, animals, and sometimes babies.
- 💡Don't confuse "its" (possessive) with "it's" (it is).
- 💡Use "they/them" as a singular pronoun for unknown or non-binary gender.
